The Return of Misleading but Accurate Descriptions of Popular Movies

Over a decade ago, I was inspired to write a piece where I crafted a collection of misleading but accurate plot descriptions of movies. It was a blast to write and to this day, it remains one of the most viewed articles on the site. I did it again for the Collective Publishing site, but that one seems to be lost to time, due to the site no longer existing and my original copy must have been saved on a device that I no longer have. It has now been over eight years since the last time I did one this little exercise of trying to accurately describe a well-known movie but in a way that may cause you to think of an entirely different plot. Right now, seems like a wonderful time to do even more misleading but accurate plot description for popular movies. I should warn you that to understand some of the descriptions you'd need to know the film, thus there are some spoilers. Beauty and the Beast (1991): The town hero seeks the love of a beautiful girl and vows to kill the monster t...

Solving Back to the Future’s Infamous Plot Holes

(NOTE: This was originally published on NerdMuch back in June of 2020, but I recently noticed the site seems to have closed up shop. This means the article no longer has a home, and since I've used it in my portfolio when pitching to pop culture sites, I thought I should post it here. If NerdMuch happens to come back online, I'll remove this article as they paid for exclusive online rights to it.) Back to the Future is a near-perfect movie. It is a masterful blend of genres; it’s a big special effects action spectacle, a fun twisty sci-fi thriller, a slice-of-life period piece comedy, an equal parts romantic and buddy comedy, and a sincere character-driven coming-of-age tale. The movie has almost turned 40 years old but continues to be one of the most popular and talked about movies ever. Despite most people agreeing it is a great movie, plenty have discussed what they perceive as plot holes and even Avengers: Endgame calls out Back to the Future for mishandling time trave...

Believe

It has not been a Caramilk secret that I've been struggling in many ways for the past year. I'm feeling more pressure than ever to succeed and grab my dreams and pull them into this realm. I need it. I command it. I deeply feel it in my gut as a pure necessity in my life. But the dark voices of pure self-doubt are calling upon the ogres of negativity and false reality to crush me and bake my bones into bread. I'm wrestling with moments where I feel all my writing is a fraud and dreams are too far-fetched. I've also been sapped of energy most days due to some haunting mental and emotional health issues triggered by a struggling career and many issues that sprouted from that. I'm seeking medical and professional help, but the state of care means I likely have months of waiting ahead. It means that I have to resolve some of these challenges on my own. since my career and bills aren't just going to stay on hold. Sometimes., that is overwhelming and daunting. But you...
