I’ve written a lot about being diagnosed with autism and ADHD. As someone who has always been imaginative and creative, I often find poetry, imagery, and metaphor to be the best ways to express my deeper thoughts. They help me capture the feeling, the lived experience, of navigating the world as a high masker. My hope is that it helps others either understand what this day-to-day life or feel truly seen and understood.
In my latest Life on the Balcony Substack, I share one of my most vulnerable pieces yet in a poetic reflection on life as a high-masking autistic and ADHDer. It’s raw, honest, and full of heart. I’d be deeply grateful if you gave it a read, and maybe it will even spark a conversation.

I am a writer, so I write. When I am not writing, I will eat candy, drink beer, and destroy small villages.
