If I don’t get around to writing a full wrap-up of my time with The Music Man and Community on Stage, I want to make sure this is said: This experience was an undeniable highlight in my theatre journey. Playing Mayor Shinn was a joy, and I’m deeply humbled by those who’ve told me they couldn’t imagine anyone else in the role. That means more than I can express.
I’m grateful for the friends made, the laughter shared, and the way our family was embraced by both the cast and the wider community.
But the proudest part of this show? Watching Everett shine as Winthrop. He brought heart, humour, and vulnerability to the role, nailed his music and dance numbers, and formed a real connection with the audience. This was a big step for him, and he absolutely nailed it.
Whether or not there’s a longer reflection down the line, this one will stay with me for a long time.

I am a writer, so I write. When I am not writing, I will eat candy, drink beer, and destroy small villages.
