'Simulating Religious Violence' Documents How Technology Could Prevent Radicalization

My latest review for Video Librarian covers the 60-minute documentary Simulating Religious Violence, which earns points for a title that clearly points to the subject matter. The film follows a collaboration between researchers, religious scholars, and computer scientists developing a simulation that predicts which communities may be vulnerable to recruitment by radicalized religious groups.

What’s fascinating is how a film about data and technology is ultimately driven by empathy. The project’s goal isn’t punishment or surveillance but rather prevention, helping governments and organizations support citizens (often second- or third-generation immigrants) who feel alienated or abandoned by their country.
