The Hundred Acre Wood and the Power of Pretend

When I was a kid, my stuffed toys were alive. We would go on epic adventures together, and they'd help me process this giant world. And never feel alone.

Which is probably why A. A. Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner wrapped themselves so tightly around my heart. They’re gentle without being simplistic. Thoughtful without being heavy. They understand that big feelings can exist inside very small moments. The Disney adaptation became a kind of emotional warm blanket that I constantly returned to.

Now, years later, I get to return to that world by playing one of the iconic characters.

The entire Spicer family is sharing the stage together again, bringing the Hundred Acre Wood to life. Everett steps into the role of Christopher Robin, guiding us on the adventure.. Danika bounces straight into hearts as Roo. Emily radiates warmth and steadiness as Kanga. I get to play Eeyore, which means very different than my usual over-the-top roles.

Eeyore is often mistaken for sadness. But what he really embodies is honesty without apology. He feels what he feels, and the world makes room for him anyway. There’s something profoundly comforting about that.

It’s going to be a special one.

And if you ever had stuffed animals who felt real or you just love Pooh, I hope you’ll come join us in the Hundred Acre Wood.
