Neurodivergent Reality

Our definition of stress: hurt, confused, overwhelmed, loud, uncomfortable, challenging, and various other words deeply connected to internalized feelings and processes will always be brought into existence through our own experience. So, a neurotypical person whose processing and experiences are very different from a neurodivergent person can never really truly understand a challenge even when it is implicitly explained.

This also means no one person can ever truly know the internalized experience of the other.

This is why empathy matters.

This happens through being willing to listen and engage with the goal of at least gaining a level of understanding, or at least being willing to accept that the experience of another is different than our own.
