Engaging Sports Stars Come in All Sizes: '96 Pounds of Dynamite' is My Latest Review for Video Librarian

 

There is an unwritten rule that if your movie is about sports, then it must have a 'big game' finale. The documentary 96 Pounds of Dynamite has one in the APA World Pool Championships, but it is much more about the journey and life of Chad "Shorty' McDaniel.

He is focused and confident on winning the championship, but directors Loren Goldfarb and Ed Coughlin are much more interested in allowing McDaniel's colourful and charismatic personality to shine, and spotlight how he found love, friendship, and success by not allowing being born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta to deter him.

It is an inspirational story that once again proves movies and documentaries are a great way to see lives and people you may never encounter, and to get so much necessary understanding and empathy.
