How I Plan to Take Over the Universe, Or At Least, My Writing Objectives

My goal is to return Life on the Balcony and The Movie Breakdown to weekly rather than non-existent.

I'll aim for a 2026 movie review each week, and potentially have enough to shape some type of Best of.

My focus will be movie reviews and analysis.

I also don't plan to completely abandon writing about neurodivergence or personal pieces about parenting or my creative journey.

If I have a hot take on something in the news or a major social issue, I'll allow the once-popular rants and raves to return.

Pitches that never find a home but that I feel are high-quality pieces will find a home either here or in the newsletter.

I'll be more proactive in building relationships with PR and showcasing what my writing can do for good movies and creators.

I'll eventually launch a Patreon for this site and a paid tier for the Substack newsletter, but I need to really strategize what the exclusive pieces will be.

I will likely return to my MCU and Disney animated series idea, and definitely serialized fiction, but my first priority is just creating works that resonate with readers and finding my posting groove again.

I really do need money. As great as getting these three projects moving again is, my very first priority is landing paid work.

Because expecting an audience to pay for my work can't happen until I have a significant collection of recent work that provides value and joy.

So, it would be awesome if my paid work was writing about pop culture or reviewing movies. But I also recognize that is what this site and podcast are for. So, really, my paid work should be any writing that I am good at, and someone is willing to pay me to do. I'll be less interested in liking it. Because I'll always have this site to turn to.

Of course, if you want a pop culture writer with over a decade of expereince to write for you, here I am.
