My site was shut down for a short time in the summer due to accusations of being a harmful site that may contain malware. It wasn't true, but Google locked the site for about 24 hours until it reversed its decision a day later. I was never given a specific reason for why they initially believed the accusation, or what the specific material was.
My guess is that someone got tired of me begging for money on the site and expressing my need for help. That isn't malware, but someone may have considered posting links to PayPal and other services as offensive, and felt it was time to close shop.
I get it. At one time I posted a weekly podcast, last year I started a newsletter, and I'd review movies and analyze pop culture on this site. That is appealing. That is fun. Even in the past year, I have written about my AuDHD, which at least can be beneficial for those who may also be neurodivergent or trying to seek some understanding.
But a writer declaring he is broke and struggling, and unable to find work, is far less appealing. You're supposed to zip that shit up and bottle it up deep inside. Especially, shouldn't dare to ask for money, even if it's asking those who appreciated decades of free work, and committing to more great writing if they could get a bit of money to sustain self and family on.
Maybe it sounds crazy that I'm blaming that on the flagging of the site, but I am well aware I probably dug a bit too deep in my desperation and was consistently posting pieces like that without much else. The reality is I still haven't posted a podcast, newsletter, or pop culture piece in months upon months. I get that the audience I once attracted many years ago may be a bit fed up with the state of things.
I promise that I'm recommitting. I'm turning this ship around. I still want to review movies, record podcasts, write newsletters, and craft unique articles and stories. It is my passion. I am doing what I can to find that energy and courage to get back to it soon.
It may not be a sudden thunder of wonder where a hundred straight reviews arrive and non-stop magic sprinkles everywhere. It will likely be a bit more paced. A bit slower. But hopefully, consistent. Definitely the best I have to offer.
I am still seeking work. I am still in need of money. If you want to support me, then I am very grateful, and if you need a creative writer, then please reach out. It would mean a lot.
