Things This Old Grump Misses

Sometimes Oblivious is Better

I often feel alone. The people who say they care deeply about me or appreciate me will go months, and maybe even years, without reaching out.  I'll have editors or clients praise my work, but then never contact or respond to me. I frequently question what I'm being told about my talents, traits, or person.

Am I really viewed positively? Are there people who truly connect with my work or with me as a person? They say it, but I often don't feel it.

But maybe, sometimes it is better to just take people at their word. Realize I often overthink things, and maybe everything is much better than how my neurodivergent mind perceives things.

Maybe my brain is being overprotective. Or maybe it is right, but taking a bit of a chance will be healthier in the long term.

Because what if? What if things will change if I decide to roll those dice? To trust that relationship. To step out into the sea believing someone is there by my side.
