I quickly glanced at what my most viewed posts were written in 2026. I initially looked at the most viewed posts in 2026, but all of them were written in past years. A clear sign that my oldest stuff gets the most traction, likely due to ranking decently in search engines.
This made it very clear to me that 2026 was likely dragging on account of not writing the type of things that get traction with my audience or not landing that type of piece that does well with search engines. It also likely means I have to work on some back-end stuff, but if I wrote higher-quality work and actually promoted the work, the numbers would have been stronger, and newer stuff would have attracted a larger audience.
But as for the 2026 articles that did get several hundred views, it was clear to me what my audience does gravitate towards. A piece listing my most anticipated movies did the best by far, which to me is obvious that people still want to see my movie thoughts, and I clearly should have written far more reviews.
The next closest pieces were when I applied personal expereince as an AuDHD adult and what I learned about it, showing my neurodivergent journey has its fans. Finally, a birthday tribute to my daughter did quite significant numbers, showing some occasional personal posts will bump the site if I don't do it too frequently.
Basically, writing the stuff I used to do frequently is still the stuff that draws the crowds.
