Scary Part of Criticism

It Waits For Me

The problem with my current obsession with accomplishing a task that only matters to me is how it pushes away things that actually matter farther down the schedule. Like the army of weeds controlling our backyard that I've been tasked to battle for months. But I keep feeling I'm not ready because my brain is focused on this one thing that has hounded me for 15 years, and when it is done, I'm the only one who will celebrate. Why am I celebrating?

I've convinced myself completing it means I can then really focus on landing work, building my audience, and being the person I want to be. But completing doesn't mean any of those things. It might not even mean I have the capacity to focus on those things.

Yet, things that must be done haunt me at every corner. Waiting for me to accomplish something that others can see and appreciate.
