Sometimes you can taste that turnaround. The sweetness of a problem solved. The rich flavour of a better future and the savoury deliciousness of some security and freedom. But then it starts getting sour. It starts getting overly chewy. You spit it out and realize you had been tricked. You grabbed the wrong item, or maybe you had gone about cooking it in the wrong way.
I'm not talking about food, but that's the metaphor I started with, and felt like I couldn't back down.
But I need to condition myself to realize not all good comes at once, just like a little disappointment doesn't mean all bad.
You just kind of roll with it.
I was close. So close. But that doesn't mean I'm not far away.
