Do readers stick around because they enjoy the writer? Or do they stick around because a writer creates pieces about a specific subject? Is a writer stuck to a limited audience if they deviate from the specific subjects on a semi-regular basis? What draws an audience to a site?
The writer or the subject?
I know the sites I like best are the specific writer, and I tend to read everything they create even when it isn't in their specific wheelhouse. But am I an anomaly?
I usually am.
For my sake and own brain-wiring, I kind of hope there is enough of us out there if I ever hope to grow my audience again.
