I'm grateful that, despite the last few years being rough and my output being inconsistent, I still seem to have an audience. I've had opportunities to connect with creators, get press releases in pop culture, and establish myself as a journalist in many circles. But the big thing right now is being able to make money again. As much as I want to grow this site and my other projects, the priority is being able to support my family and make sure debt is paid off. Long term, I'll need to learn how to keep this site, newsletter, and podcast active while managing client work.
At this moment, I need well-paying client work. I do want to eventually turn these projects into how I make my living, but it isn't viable right now unless pledges and donations suddenly come pouring in. I'll be happy with any current donations, but I know it can't be my income at the moment.
I need work while also learning how to effectively monetize everything. For now, the priority is clients, and building something that can be monetized is secondary.
