Over a decade ago, I was inspired to write a piece where I crafted a collection of misleading but accurate plot descriptions of movies. Disney Plus Offering 'Mulan' for $29.99 Could Turn Out to Be a Historic Event

Ever since Covid-19 forced the closure of movie theatres in March, the most unsurprising news stories have been theatrical releases getting delayed or studios moving a movie to either streaming or premium VOD. Movie theatres in many parts of North America remain closed but movie studios have a lot of pictures stuffed on the shelf that are not being seen and not making any money. Studios on a weekly basis have been forced to either push a release date to a time they hope will be safer to screen their film on the big screen for an audience or try to make a profit by either selling it to a streamer like Netflix and Amazon Prime or see if entertainment hungry consumers will bite at a $19.99 premium rental option. The Breakdown of 'Desperados' and 'Color Out of Space', and Remembering Olivia de Havilland and Alan Parker

This week is a jam-pack episode of The Movie Breakdown even though we only have two movie reviews for you, but they are both 2020 releases. We've got a girls' road trip mixed with romantic comedy in Desperados and Nicolas Cage starring in an adaptation of a H.P. Lovecraft horror, C olor Out of Space . We also remember true Hollywood greats in major movie star of the Golden Age and two-time Oscar winner, Olivia de Havilland and the director of a diverse slate of great movies in filmmaker, Alan Parker. As well, we look at the historic pact between AMC Cinemas and Universal studios that shortens the theatrical window to 17 days, and we discuss those implications.
