Check the Box On Something I Never Thought I'd Do

Regular readers of the site know that I made my big return to the stage this past summer in a Brant Workshop production of The Misadventures of Pinocchio. Despite only ending up performing one full show, it was a great experience and reminded me how much I loved acting in my younger years, I decided that I wanted to keep it up, especially if I could share the stage with Everett.

Emily came across a company called Playful Fox Productions that is doing several different shows for next year, and the auditions were at the start of this month. There was one play and two musicals that were available to us, and I immediately opted to audition for the play, But then it became clear that it did not have any parts for Everett, and he was more likely to land a role in one of the two musicals.

I had a choice to make.

The one who has never been in a musical, never sung in front of people, and was not confident he was very good needed to decide if he would learn a song and perform it for the audition along with the planned monologue.

Well, the title is about doing something that I never thought I'd do. I'm sure you can figure out the answer.

I don't think it was revealed I am the next Hugh Jackman or Zach Efron, but I did much better than I had expected. I am glad that I pushed myself and tried something new. I want to be a strong role model for my kids, and both of them knew I was going out of my comfort zone for this.

I'll keep you updated if anyone in the Spicer family landed parts.

Oh yeah, in a last-minute decision, Emily decided to sing as well.
