The Return of Misleading but Accurate Descriptions of Popular Movies

Over a decade ago, I was inspired to write a piece where I crafted a collection of misleading but accurate plot descriptions of movies. It was a blast to write and to this day, it remains one of the most viewed articles on the site. For Those Curious About 'Powder' Thanks to 'The Movie Breakdown'. . .

As is tradition, the end of The Movie Breakdown means we randomly shoehorn a reference to an older movie and this week Scott decided to bestow that honour on 1995's Powder . I am not even sure if Scott has ever seen Powder and he probably endorses it as much as he does Dr. Giggles and Down Periscope. I think I've seen it but I need to confess that the teen drama meets Beauty and the Beast mash-up isn't one of the 1990s era movies that have stuck to me. Maybe the mention of the movie has given you an itch for renting it on YouTube (where it is available) or iTunes (where maybe it is?), but you should know that Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert weren't fans. Disney Plus Offering 'Mulan' for $29.99 Could Turn Out to Be a Historic Event

Ever since Covid-19 forced the closure of movie theatres in March, the most unsurprising news stories have been theatrical releases getting delayed or studios moving a movie to either streaming or premium VOD. Movie theatres in many parts of North America remain closed but movie studios have a lot of pictures stuffed on the shelf that are not being seen and not making any money. Studios on a weekly basis have been forced to either push a release date to a time they hope will be safer to screen their film on the big screen for an audience or try to make a profit by either selling it to a streamer like Netflix and Amazon Prime or see if entertainment hungry consumers will bite at a $19.99 premium rental option.
