I'd smell something that seemed to be burning. I observed a structure or item that appeared off. I'd hear instructions that seemed to be incorrect. I'd observe and notice things. Often too much. Often to the point of overwhelm. But I'd rarely speak up. I'd rarely take the initiative. Because I assumed someone else must notice if I did. I needed someone else to validate my findings, because for over four decades, I had it beat into me that I wasn't that smart or did things wrong or there is always someone better. I assumed it was better to stand back.
I was wrong. I now know a lot of those feelings came from being neurodivergent and people often misunderstanding me. I'm aware I have a lot to offer. My observations can be crucial contributions.
Now, I just need to start reworking decades of masking and actions, where I recognize my input and my contribution have value.
I can speak up

I am a writer, so I write. When I am not writing, I will eat candy, drink beer, and destroy small villages.
