My Valentine

Houston! We Have A Teenager. . .

Everett's birthday was actually December 26th, and we're now into January. The whole teenager roaming about the home has been a thing for a few weeks now.

When he was young, he'd often jokingly threaten he would 'soon be a teenager'. Then I would give an exaggerated blustery response about how no teenagers were allowed in my house. I did greet him on his birthday by declaring he had to move out now.

I didn't ask for a teenager, but I am super proud of who he has become. He blew me away in November in the Playful Fox Productions version of James and the Giant Peach, It has been a blessing witnessing him grow as a performer and seeing his deep passion for it.

The biggest treasure is being his father and seeing the incredible young man he has become. He constantly jumps out of his comfort zone by trying new things and meeting new people despite being an introvert.

I'm impressed by his dedication to cello and academic excellence. But the big wins have been his kindness and willingness to reach out to those who need compassion and a friend.

I can't wait ot see all the things he will accomplish and achieve this year.

I love you so much, Everett, even if you're a teenager now.
